Kitchen? Check. Now what?

There comes a time in everyone's life when they need to stock a kitchen, but what to put in it (besides food) is a daunting task. In the upcoming posts I'll break down the most crucial items every starter kitchen needs by cooking style, from beginners to advanced.

Basic

If your specialty dish consists of opening the freezer, grabbing the bag of pizza rolls, and nuking them for a minute then this is your list. If you are a little more advanced in the kitchen these are some basic tools you can use to.

Utensils:

forks   (everyone needs forks whether they are plastic, wood, or metal)

knives (plastic don't cut it here sorry)

Random Equipment:

can opener (for the nights when your hankering soup but moms not there...can also double as a bottle opener for those beers)

microwave (to make your signature dish)

telephone (used to order delivery)

Dinnerware:

plates (paper, plastic, ceramic . . . your choice)

cups (you'll need at least 20 solo AND plastic, paper, ceramic, or glass)

mugs (these double as both drinking glasses and soup bowls)

Blogging about Blogging

I never really knew much about blogging: what kind of people did it, why these people did it, or even what people blogged about. After an English assignment, one in which I was forced to make a blog post, I realized this is pretty cool.

I thought about ways in which I could create a blog and for what purpose and of course the first thing that came to my mind was cooking. Myself a sophomore in college, I know a lot about cooking. However, my peers do not; most of my friends can barely make pasta!

This blog will be a tribute to them in their endeavors to learn how to cook while on a tight budget. I will post as frequently as I am able with techniques and recipes and menu tips, as well as some clever ideas on ways to save money cooking delicious, time conscious meals.

I hope you enjoy what I have to offer. : )
